CINC LTC Ruth L. Hamilton, US Army (Retired), became an Adjutant General’s Corps officer upon her commissioning in 1985. During 26 years of service in worldwide assignments, her unique experiences include serving as the first female Honor Guard Commander (LANDSOUTHEAST, Izmir, Turkey) while assigned as the NATO Morale Welfare Activities Officer. She also commanded the 178th Personnel Service Company (Aschaffenburg, Germany), and served as the Assistant Executive Officer to the Supreme Allied Commander of Europe and Commander-in-Chief, US European Command. She later served as the Executive Officer for two the Adjutants General of the United States Army.
Prior to her election as the 85th Commander-in-Chief of The Military Order of the World Wars, she served as an elected General Staff Officer and an appointed member of the Executive Committee to the General Staff. She was also the Chair of the Budget Committee, the Legislative & Resolutions Committee, and the Honors & Protocol Committee, Vice Chair of the Magazine Committee, and a member of Constitution & Bylaws Committee and the Finance Committee. In addition, she was elected as a Vice Commander-in-Chief and, later, the Senior Vice Commander-in-Chief.
CINC Hamilton has bachelor’s degrees in Nutrition Education, Dietetics, and Home Economics Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a Master of Human Relations degree from the University of Oklahoma.
